YEREVAN, June 27. /ARKA/. Investors have set a task of long-term development in both mobile and fixed telephony segments of the market before ArmenTel, Pyatakhin said Thursday at his first news conference since he took the office on June 19.

“To earn money right now is not what long-term investors want,” he said. “VimpelCom Group has two large long-term investors, which are not seeking quick returns.”

He said the company should handle current tasks and lay groundwork for long growth using its excellent capacity to its full extent.

Pyatakhin said he will concentrate focus on improvement of infrastructures and will pay special attention to human resources.

He, however, refrained from pointing out particular amounts of investments saying he has no precise figures, since he started working here just one week ago.

“Shareholders want ArmenTel to be a stable, strong, new and good company that will operate as long as possible and will be interesting to stakeholders and customers,” he said.

ArmenTel CJSC, a subsidiary of Russian VimpelCom (trading as Beeline), provides fixed and mobile telecommunication services and a high-speed access to Internet.

VimpelCom Ltd Group’s companies provide services under Beeline, Kievstar, Djuice, Wind, Infostrada, Mobilink, Leo, Banglalink, Telecel and Djezzy brands.

The group has 215 million customers. The ticker of VimpelCom’s stocks at New-York Stock Exchange is VIP. ---0---
