Crystal and pure raw sapphire producing plant of $9 mln to open in Armenia this June

YEREVAN, April 26. /ARKA/. Crystal and pure raw sapphire producing plant will open in Armenia this June, Astra Crystals company CEO Norayr Khachatryan reported on Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan’s visit to the plant. 

“Today you will witness the final phase of producing artificial crystal weighted 60 kg. We were processing it within 20 days, and it will be our first crystal,” Khachatryan said. 

He added that crystal production will expand after launching the plant. Production is expected to reach up to 1 ton of crystals per year, and will double 9 month later after the launch. Initially 40 machines will operate on the plant, and another 60 machines will be installed outside the territory of the plant. 

The company will mainly focus on the market of light-emitting diodes that are used in lighting engineering. In particular, due to light-emitting diodes the lightening expenses may be reduced 10 times. 

“In the future we are planning to produce jewelery crystals and crystals for laser technology,” Khachatryan added. 

He clarified that the company is determined to enter Russian, Chinese and European Union’s markets after launching the plant. 

The CEO added that Astra Crystals also aims for involving all those Armenian specialists who work abroad now. 

Khachatryan said along with the plant there will be also school for preparing own personnel for processing crystals. 

The total estimated cost of the construction is $9 million; $6.5 million if which will be directed to purchasing equipment. The company reached agreement on funding with Ameriabank. 

In the framework of the program 20 new jobs with an average wages of 180, 000 drams will be offered. 

Astra Crystal CJSC , founded in 2011, operates in processing technical crystals, as well as raw sapphire. ($1 – 392.42 drams). —0--
