Armenian deputy minister of energy and natural resources Areg Galstyan said today he had no information that Armenia’s Russian-owned Electric Networks of Armenia (ENA) power distribution company is going to ask the Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) to allow it to raise the price of electricity.

YEREVAN, April 29. / ARKA /. Armenian deputy minister of energy and natural resources Areg Galstyan said today he had no information that Armenia’s Russian-owned Electric Networks of Armenia (ENA) power distribution company is going to ask the Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) to allow it to raise the price of electricity.

According to Armenian media stories, the Electric Networks of Armenia plans to ask the PSRC in early May to allow it to increase electricity price by 6 drams per one KWh. If the permission is given Armenian households will pay 48 drams (roughly ten US cents) per one KWh for daytime electricity and 38 drams per 1 kWh at night time (from 11 pm to 6 am).

"I have no information about future changes in the price of electricity. The PSRC receives many applications every year, including, for investment programs, which also reflect on the price of public services," said Galstyan.

On August 1, 2014, prices for electricity in Armenia were raised from 38 drams to 41.85 drams per one KWh for daytime consumption and from 28 drams to 31.85 drams for nighttime consumption. ($ 1 - 474.95 drams). -0-
