YEREVAN, March 1. /ARKA/. Prompted by an unusually warm weather a deputy minister of agriculture Garnik Petrosyan urged Armenian farmers today to start farm work earlier than usual.

Speaking to reporters, he said the warm weather, registered across the country, has had an impact on the agricultural work schedule.

‘In 10 days apricot trees are very likely to start blossoming across the Ararat Valley. In the northeast of the country dogwood trees are already blossoming,' he said.

He said the warm weather forecast for March suggests that farmers need to hurry up with the pruning of vines. He added also that farmers can also start potato planting, but they should plant seed potato a few centimeters deeper to avoid the germination of tubers.

Gagik Surenyan, the deputy chief of a National Weather Service department, said no one can say now whether freezing is expected or not, as accurate weather forecast can be made for 5-6 days only.

"Right now I can only say with certainty that in the next ten days no sharp drop in temperature, heavy snowfall and frost are expected", said Surenyan.-0-
