YEREVAN, March 17. /ARKA/. Gasoline prices in Armenia are expected to fall by an average of 3%, Gegham Gevorgyan, chairman of the State Committee for the Protection of Economic Competition, told a news conference today, convened by the Single Information Center, set up to provide coronavirus-related information.
According to him, the gasoline price has dropped to 390 drams per liter from 420-430 drams. He said this decrease has not yet been substantiated, because e the decline in world oil prices has not yet affected the gasoline market.
"Nevertheless, we expect a further decrease in gasoline prices in Armenia, taking into account the fall in world oil prices. Given that the share of oil in gasoline price is 5-20%, gasoline may become cheaper by about 3%," Gevorgyan said.
He said the Commission will present a more accurate forecast for gasoline downward prices later.
According to the National Statistics Committee, in February 2020, gasoline prices in Armenia decreased by 0.9% compared to January of the same year. The diesel fuel price dropped by 1.5%. At the same time, in February of this year compared to February 2019, gasoline prices increased by 0.8%, while diesel fuel price fell by 1.6%. At the same time, when compared to 2019 December, gasoline and diesel prices fell by 0.9% and 1.5%, respectively. ($1 - 489.80 dram) --0--
