YEREVAN, September 13. /ARKA/. Armenian authorities consider using the airport in Goris in the southern province of Syunik as a reserve airport, Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Gnel Sanosyan said today.

"Certain work has been done for reopening of the Goris airport. A working group was sent to Goris to look into the state of things on the ground. It has prepared an action plan," Sanosyan said at a Q&A session in parliament.

According to him, the first thing to do is to repair the runway and adjacent infrastructure in accordance with accepted standards.

The airport in Kapan, the capital of Syunik, which resumed operation recently, does not have a backup airport located nearby. Four flights from Yerevan to Kapan were either canceled or the plane had to return back to Yerevan due to bad weather.

The flights between Yerevan Zvartnots airport and Kapan Syunik airport launched on August 21 are operated by NorAir airline twice a week - on Tuesdays and Fridays. A one-way ticket costs 20 thousand drams (about $50). --0—
