YEREVAN, October 26. /ARKA/. The government of Armenia will cut the time for consideration of applications from companies seeking benefits on customs payments, Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Investments Tigran Khachatryan said at a government meeting on Thursday.

The government made a set of changes today to one of its earlier decisions regarding the granting of privileges on payment of customs duties awarded to companies which invest in sectors announced by the government as priorities.

"We propose that the period for consideration of applications for benefits be shorten from 35 days to 25. We also propose that the ministry be provided with the right to require additional documents to justify the final conclusions," said Khachatryan.

At the same time, the deputy minister noted that the government is not seeking to toughen responsibility for violations in the implementation of the investment programs, since soon these issues will be revised to meet  the Eurasian Economic Union’s Customs Code, which will come into force on January 1, 2018.

Khachatryan also said that today this type of privilege is provided to 41 programs worth  a total of 2.5 billion drams. ($ 1 - 482.28 drams). -0-
