YEREVAN, April 9. /ARKA/. The grand opening of the Academy of Culinary Arts and Hospitality took place in Yerevan on Monday. Yeremyan Projects General Manager David Yeremyan spoke about how and why the idea of this unique project emerged.

"We have a wealth of experience in this area, and we wanted to launch a project to pass not only our experience, but also the experience of all the best local chefs to the younger generation. The graduates of the Academy are to become ambassadors of the Armenian cuisine abroad," said David Yeremyan.
He noted that in Yerevan it will be the mission of Culinary Arts and Hospitality Academy graduates to provide friendly service. Yeremyan added that this is the first Culinary Academy in Armenia and Yeremyan Projects is a true pioneer in this sphere.
"One of the challenges was recruiting the best professionals for this project, because in Armenia there is a lack of qualified personnel in the field of culinary arts and hospitality," said David Yeremyan. According to him, for the last years the company had launched its own small-scale culinary school that gave valuable experience for the creation of the Academy.
The Director of the Academy of Culinary Arts and Hospitality Nazeli Navasardyan, in turn, said the Academy’s mission is to train and retrain chefs and waiters of the "new generation" as well as other professionals in the service and hospitality industry.
According to Nazeli Navasardyan, the Academy will become a center of professional excellence, where special courses on culinary arts and hospitality will be organized for both beginners and experienced specialists - without age and professional restrictions.

Navasardyan said it is important that the cost of these courses is affordable for students. The trainers are the best specialists in the field.
"There will also be master classes for housewives, tourists, people who just love cooking," said Nazeli Navasardyan. She said that classes at the Academy will begin next week.

The opening ceremony was also attended by the representative of the City of Oxford College, UK, Francis Lawson.
“I’m very excited to be part of this project. Our main goal is to develop the culinary arts and hospitality industry in Armenia,” said Lawson. In his opinion, the level of the Academy is impressive and meets the highest international standards.
The Academy offers the following courses: Culinary Arts (basic cooking course for beginners, professional retraining for experienced chefs), Confectionery (basic course, professional retraining for experienced confectioners), restaurant management and service.
Academy curricula are approved and certified by the British Activate Learning Group, City of Oxford College. Upon completion of the course, graduates will be awarded diplomas and certificates of the British Activate Learning Group College and of the Academy of Culinary Arts and Hospitality.

The duration and formats of the courses are different. Thus, a basic course in culinary arts will last 6 months, refresher courses - 1-3 months, restaurant management and service course - 1-2 months.
Students will be taught both specialty subjects, and the basics of leadership, foreign languages, communication skills required for restaurant and hospitality industry jobs. They will be provided with uniforms, training materials and meals. The practicum will be organized in the best restaurants of Yerevan.
One of the advantages of the Academy is that it is furnished with modern equipment that facilitates and makes work in the kitchen effective. -0-
