Having a national air carrier is a strategic task for Armenia, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said Wednesday at a meeting on the development of civil aviation.
YEREVAN, July 3. /ARKA/. Having a national air carrier is a strategic task for Armenia, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said Wednesday at a meeting on the development of civil aviation.
"We have gathered today to discuss a draft civil aviation development concept. In the past, I had several reasons to say that having a national airline in the modern world is an important part of a state," Pashinyan was quoted by the government press office as saying.
“I want us not to confuse the concepts, because the functionality of the systems and mechanisms that were used in the past should still be discussed, but the fact that planes must fly to and from Armenia under Armenian flag is beyond doubt. Another question is what strategy, tactics and roadmap should we use to achieve this goal,” said Pashinyan.
The Prime Minister noted that to achieve the goal it is necessary to take balanced, thoughtful and consistent steps. Pashinyan stressed that the strategic goal is having Armenian competitive airlines both at home and beyond.
“We need to reach this goal with measured, thoughtful and consistent steps. I believe that today's discussion is the beginning of the road to this," he said. -0-
