Hungarian airline to open base at Yerevan Zvartnots airport

YEREVAN, May 29. /ARKA/. The Hungarian airline will open its base at Yerevan Zvartnots airport, Hungarian Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Minister Péter Szijjártó said in Yerevan on Tuesday.
“Thanks to this, Yerevan will expand connections in 18 directions,” he told Armenia's Public Television, without specifying details.
The minister meant in all likelihood the Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air, a major player in the region, with a significant presence in Armenia.
Szijjártó also noted that Armenia and Hungary have intensified economic interaction and the trade between the two countries has reached a record level.
According to Armstat, the trade between Armenia and Hungary in the first quarter of 2025 amounted to $11.3 million, up 51.1% compared to the first quarter of 2024.
Exports from Armenia during the reporting period stood at $95б700 with a 69.6% decline, while imports from Hungary as a producing country totaled $11.2 million (up 56.4%). -0-
