Imports of coal and building timber on the rise, Pashinyan says

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan reported a substantial rise in imports of coal and building timber, as well as in the number of importers.
YEREVAN, November 11. /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan reported a substantial rise in imports of coal and building timber, as well as in the number of importers.
“In 2019, compared to 2017, the import of coal to Armenia increased by 6.2 times, or by more than 500%. The number of importing companies increased by 22.6% (53 companies in 2017, 65 companies in 2018)," Pashinyan wrote in a Facebook post.
As regards building timber, the prime minister noted that as much of it was imported in the first 10 months of 2019 as in the whole of 2018.
"And compared with the whole of 2017, the import in the first 10 months of this year are 77% more, while the number of importing companies increased by 51.4% or 70 companies: 206 companies against 136," Pashinyan said.
According to him, these figures mean that the government’s policy towards preserving the forests of Armenia is effective. --0--
