International experts' final conclusion on the damage the Amulsar gold mine could inflict to environment will be ready by mid-August, Hayk Grigoryan, the head of the Investigative Committee of Armenia, said on Thursday. In his words, the experts' 341-page preliminary report was received on July 1, which is already completely translated to Armenian.

International experts' final conclusion on the damage the Amulsar gold mine could inflict to environment will be ready by mid-August, Hayk Grigoryan, the head of the Investigative Committee of Armenia, said on Thursday. In his words, the experts' 341-page preliminary report was received on July 1, which is already completely translated to Armenian.
In February, the Armenian government decided to allocate $396,900 from the Investigative Committee's reserve fund to order an expert investigation to the Earth Link & Advanced Resources Development (ELARD) Company.
Territorial Administration Minister Suren Papikyan, on his side, said that the ministry had already seen the preliminary report, and therefore it will be able to make preparations for examination of the final document very quickly.
Lydian Armenia, established in 2005 and owned by Lydian International LLC, extract gold in Armenia. The Amulsar Gold Mine program is the company's first project in Armenia.
The Amulsar is the second biggest gold field, which contains 31 million tons of gold ore and 40 tons of a pure gold. It sits in the south-eastern area of Armenia, 13 kilometers from Jermuk.
On July 20, 2018, the Special Investigative Committee of Armenia opened a criminal case over an apparent suppression by the environment ministry's officials of the information related to environment pollution. -0--
