Meat prices to go up in Armenia

Suppliers are expected to increase meat prices because of new requirements to slaughter houses that come into force all over Armenia’s territory on July 1, 2018, Hrach Berberyan, the head of the Farmers Association of Armenia, told 168 Zham (168 Hours).
YEREVAN, March 29. /ARKA/. Suppliers are expected to increase meat prices because of new requirements to slaughter houses that come into force all over Armenia’s territory on July 1, 2018, Hrach Berberyan, the head of the Farmers Association of Armenia, told 168 Zham (168 Hours).
Berberyan welcomed the new requirements saying that sooner or later Armenia had to carry out transition to a civilized farming.
He said the new requirements will lessen risks and enhance responsibility for products.
In his words, the price for one kilogram of meat will rise by 100-150 drams.
Berberyan said Armenia is now in want of butcheries – there are only 18 butcheries in the country and other 23 will be built soon.
The State Food Safety Agency says Armenia needs 70 slaughter houses. --0---
