Armenia may improve its position in the World Bank’s "Doing Business" ranking by 10 points, acting economy minister Artsvik Minasyan said today.

YEREVAN, September 23. /ARKA/. Armenia may improve its position in the World Bank’s "Doing Business" ranking by 10 points, acting economy minister Artsvik Minasyan said today.

In the latest Doing Business 2016 report, Armenia rose by three notches to the 35th position among 189 nations, showing the best indicator among former Soviet republics making the so-called Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

According to Minasyan, in 2016 the ministry implemented a series of measures that can improve the business environment of n the country.

"Basically, the implemented reforms have eased tax and customs burdens for businesses encouraging also investment and stimulating business,' said Minasyan.

He noted the reduction of red tape has reduced the time for companies to submit applications for benefits. 

‘These and other measures make it possible to say that the ministry of economy is actually "accompanying businesses through various administrative obstacles." -0-
