YEREVAN, November 18. /ARKA/. Armenia’s minister of agriculture Ignatiy Arakelyan told lawmakers today that he intends to attract professionals to help boost the sector. In his words, the ministry will radically revise all the agricultural programs, to be implemented in 2017, including the government-subsidized ones.
He said one of the goals will be to maximize resources saving, as well as to ensure that the provided assistance reaches addressees.
He said the saved money will be channeled into to more efficient projects. The minister said the current situation, when all processing enterprises are funded mainly due to credit resources, and the veterinary service system practically does not work is unacceptable.
"We attract funds from the World Bank for the development of animal husbandry, while the regions lack professional veterinarians who would monitor the situation", - said Arakelyan. He said all the regions will have veterinarians.
"We're trying to develop farms, but we do not have skilled experts in consulting, who could indicate promising areas of business development, rather than leaving everything to chance," - said Arakelyan. -0-
