YEREVAN, March 19. /ARKA/. For safety reasons and because of the reduced business activity, more than 50% of Ameriabank employees do not go to work, but are paid in full, Ameriabank CEO Artak Hanesyan said.

"Although we could declare a forced downtime and pay employees only part of their salaries, we decided to pay the full amount and preserve also their vacation days," he stressed.

Speaking about the steps, which the bank is taking to protect the health of its employees, Hanesyan said that maintaining a healthy and positive atmosphere in the team is a very important and valuable component of their business.

“As part of measures to ensure the safety and health of employees and customers, we constantly disinfect the premises and actively follow the rules of hygiene. The safety and health of our employees are an important priority of our work. All meetings, training and job interviews are conducted remotely. The workrooms are constantly disinfected and ventilated, employees receive masks, gloves and disinfectant gels daily," he said.

Hanesyan also noted that Ameriabank, taking into account the problems that the coronavirus pandemic has created for business, as well as in order to avoid large crowds of people in its branches and to ensure the safety of customers, decided to grant "credit holidays’  to all its corporate and individual customers from March 13 to May 13 of this year.
He said during the specified period of time, they may not make regular payments on their loans, including the principal amount, accrued interest, service charges and other payments, which will not entail any negative consequences for their credit history.

Hanesyan also explained that the entire unpaid amount will be calculated and reallocated for the next six months according to the newly drawn up schedule, which customers will be able to receive according to the method of communication they have previously chosen.

"I want to note that the bank took over all the expenses and interests for the redistributed amounts will not be charged," he said.

According to the CEO, Ameriabank will take an individual approach to companies in the vulnerable state which are engaged in tourism, hotel and catering sectors.

“In accordance with this individual approach, from March 16, they will be able to delay repayment of the loan principal for 3-6 months. All unpaid principal amount will be calculated and reallocated to the remaining months of the loan,” he explained.

Noting that due to the closure of malls, the bank was forced to close its branches in trading centers, Hanesyan emphasized that all other branches operate in normal mode.

“As a bank promoting digital banking, we offer our customers a wide range of online services, which are free,” he said.

“We are pleased that in this difficult situation, employees of our bank actively contribute to maintaining business continuity and all the created working groups operate in an efficient and dynamic mode. I want to express my gratitude to them for their united and dedicated work during this difficult period. And I’m sure that only thanks to unity, our people will be able to overcome the problems that the coronavirus pandemic caused all over the world," Hanesyan said in an interview with EADaily.
