Online cab service providers in Armenia will be obliged to pay state duty from each order
YEREVAN, June 22. /ARKA/. Online taxi service providers are very common in Armenia, but they are not regulated and controlled in any way, Armenian Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Gnel Sanosyan said at a government session on Thursday.
He said the ministry proposes to regulate this sector that consists of both companies and individual entrepreneurs, which accept or redistribute cab orders through electronic platforms. He said this type of business will be designated as an activity requiring notification.
He said a state fee of 1 million drams will be established. Introducing the package of relating legislative changes he said a state duty will also have to be paid from each order.
In case of non-cash payment from September 1, 2024, the duty will be 1.5%, 2.5% in 2025 and 4% in 2026. If paid in cash, from September 1, 2024 the duty will be 2%, 3.5% in 2025 and 5% in 2026.
Cabs will be required to have a cash register installed and to provide electronic receipts.
In order to stimulate the development of a unified transport network, the ministry suggests removing a requirement that obliges companies to pay stat duty for providing intra-regional and inter-regional passenger transportation services. If adopted by parliament, the changes will take effect September 1, 2024. -0-
