YEREVAN, May 17. /ARKA/. Polish business people show a considerable interest in joint projects with Armenian entrepreneurs, Garegin Melkonyan, Armenian deputy economy minister and co-chair of the Armenian-Polish intergovernmental commission, told journalists on Tuesday on back rooms of the fifth session of the commission.

He said that after the session an Armenian-Polish business forum will be held.

In his words, the agenda is saturated with issues relating to all segments of economy. It gives room for implementing joint projects in energy, culture, IT, agriculture, environment protection, healthcare, transport, tourism and trade areas.

It also includes exchange of experience in prevention of incidents and minimization of their consequences, implementation of humanitarian programs as well as military and technical cooperation.

Melkonyan expressed hope that particular arrangements will be made between representatives of the private sector.

“Armenia’s membership in the Eurasian Economic Union had absolutely no impacts on trade turnover between Armenia and Poland, which amounts to $50 million every year,” he said. “Imports from Armenia to Poland grew last years, especially aluminum foil imports.”

Armenia’s membership in the Eurasian Economic Union even creates new opportunities, he said. For example, products of joint Armenian-Polish enterprises or those companies established in Armenia with Polish capital will enjoy all the preferences the union gives to its members.

“The same applies to these products’ access to Iranian market, which is now very attractive for European countries,” Melkonyan said. --0----
