DARBAS, April 17. /ARKA/. President Serzh Sargsyan visited today Shamb Business-owned cannery and a mineral water plant in the village of Darbas in southern Syunik province of Armenia.

The cannery was commissioned in 2010. Its owners are brothers Armen and Aram Stepanian, natives of the village, living in the Russian Federation. The equipment, valued at 426 million drams, was brought from Germany, Italy and Bulgaria. It produces canned food, jams and juices form locally grown fruits and vegetables. Of 175 tons output produced last year 80% were exported to Russia. The cannery cooperates with Moscow-based companies Raymond and Ani, which run their stores in the Russian capital. Currently the cannery employs 60 people, but their number in 2012 is projected to reach 120.

The equipment for the mineral water plant was imported from Germany, Italy and Bulgaria. The plant produces mineral waters and soft drinks in plastic and glass bottles. The capacity of the plant is five thousand bottles per hour. The bulk of output is exported. The volume of exports reached about 200 million drams last year. Now the company employs 53 people, but their number will increase to 70. ($1 - 392.55 drams). -0-
