Processing companies promise to pay outstanding debts to farmers before April 1

Armenian wineries and processing companies will pay last year's outstanding debts to farmers for procurement of grapes by April 1, agriculture minister Sergo Karapetyan said on Wednesday.
YEREVAN, March 16. /ARKA/. Armenian wineries and processing companies will pay last year's outstanding debts to farmers for procurement of grapes by April 1, agriculture minister Sergo Karapetyan said on Wednesday.
According to him, Armenian processing enterprises in 2015 bought 39 billion drams worth fruits, vegetables and grapes having paid for about 95% of them.
"At the moment their outstanding debt to farms is worth about 2.5 billion drams. During a recent meeting with their top managers, the latter promised to pay the debt before April 1, 2016," Karapetyan said to MPs during a Q&A session.
According to the ministry of agriculture, in 2015 some 210,000 tons of grapes were grown in the country. ($ 1 - 486.98 drams). -0-
