YEREVAN, February 13. /ARKA/. Armenia's State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition (SCPEC) is looking into the situation in the local markets of sugar, flour and media advertising, the head of the Commission Gegham Gevorgyan told reporters on Thursday.
According to him, administrative proceedings have been instituted in connection with the reduction in the prices of sugar. He added that there is a clear idea why that has happened.
"According to our research, large supermarkets sell sugar below primary cost and we are trying to find out whether is it an anti-competitive collusion or abuse of a dominant position in the market," Gevorgyan said.
He also noted that the Commission has already begun studying the wheat flour market, and will also conduct research in the mining sector.
"Another subject of research this year is media and online advertising. Inspections have already begun and will last for about six months to understand the market situation, after which we will present the results," said Gevorgyan. –0—
