SCR preparing for summer season

The Russian-run South Caucasus Railways (SCR) company operating Armenia’s railroads, said all its branches are preparing for launch of summer passenger traffic season. The company is engaged now in repairs and inspections of passenger cars and locomotives, checking also the security level on trains.
YEREVAN, May 14. /ARKA/. The Russian-run South Caucasus Railways (SCR) company operating Armenia’s railroads, said all its branches are preparing for launch of summer passenger traffic season. The company is engaged now in repairs and inspections of passenger cars and locomotives, checking also the security level on trains.
In particular, until May 27 some 31 passenger cars and 12 electric trains will be painted, in 16 cars air conditioning system will be strengthened. The staff will also have a training.
As part of the plan the company will carry out repairs at Ayrum-Gyumri, Gyumri-Yerevan, Masis-Yeraskh, Kanaker-Shorzha sections.
The Yerevan-Batumi-Yerevan train will be launched on 15th of June, and on 1 July an electric train will start running to Lake Sevan.
The Armenian Railways was handed over to the South Caucasus Railways on February 13, 2008 for 30-year concession management with a right
to prolong the management term for other 10 years. -0-
