Some 5.5 billion drams to be invested in intensive nectarine and plum orchards in Armenia

YEREVAN, September 11. /ARКА/. At a meeting on Thursday, the Armenian government decided to exempt SLG AGRO from customs duties on imports. The company plans to invest 5.5 billion drams in the creation of intensive nectarine and plum orchards.
The company plans to implement an investment program in a priority sector using modern technologies at the expense of imported products.
The program will be implemented on land plots in the Dalarik administrative district of Baghramyan community in Armavir region, where intensive nectarine and plum orchards are planned to be planted on an area of 207.35 hectares in 2025-2027.
The orchard will be irrigated using a drip system, the orchard will be protected by an anti-hail system, and about 1,642 trees will be planted on one hectare.
Investments in the amount of 5.5 billion drams will be directed to the purchase and installation of trellis systems and anti-hail nets, drip irrigation and fertigation systems, the purchase of trees and agricultural machinery and other types of work.
It is planned to create 150 new jobs by 2026. The exemption from customs duties is estimated at 59 million drams. ($1 - 382.75 drams).-0-
