YEREVAN, December 25. /ARKA/. Armenia’s State Food Security Service (SFSS), an affiliation of the Ministry of Agriculture, promised to step up supervision at the country’s markets. Speaking to reporters, the agency’s head Ishkhan Karapetyan said as every year, the SFSS is going to switch to enhanced mode of operation ahead of New Year festivities.
He said the reason is the growing volume of trade on these days. ‘We will try to ensure the safety of our citizens by protecting them from dangerous products,' he said.
He also added that some business entities seek to increase profits by resorting to various violations. Earlier this month the SFSS prevented two attempts of selling horse and donkey meat at a Yerevan market as beef. -0-
