YEREVAN, June 15. /ARKA/. Supermarkets in Armenia must repay their unpaid tax debts, Davit Ananyan, the head of the Armenian State Revenue Committee, said Thursday ahead of the Cabinet’s regular session.

Earlier, the National Security Service disclosed a large corruption scheme – Yerevan City chain of supermarkets long years evaded taxes. In particular, Alex Holding large company registered hundreds of fake individual entrepreneurs to pay only 2% as turnover tax instead of 20% as value added tax.

“The supermarkets which have to pay VAT are now putting their papers in order,” Ananyan said. “We have analyzed the total volume of already existing information and are summoning everybody to the State Revenue Committee to solve all the problems, and supermarkets have to pay all the taxes they have failed to pay. Now necessary calculations are under way.”

The head of the State Revenue Committee also urged the country’s population to be active and to inform the committee about cases of non-delivery of sale receipts in supermarkets or other trade centers.

“We are addressing this issue, and over the last ten days, we have punished a number of economic entities for such offensives,” he said. --0---
