Trade between Eurasian Economic Union and United States in 2018 surged by almost 20% to $28.3 billion

The trade turnover between several former Soviet republics which are united in the Russia-led Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) and the United States in 2018 hit the record level in the last four years, having surged by almost 20% to $28.3 billion when compared to 2015, the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) said.
YEREVAN, March 22. /ARKA/. The trade turnover between several former Soviet republics which are united in the Russia-led Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) and the United States in 2018 hit the record level in the last four years, having surged by almost 20% to $28.3 billion when compared to 2015, the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) said.
Speaking at the conference titled "We are doing business with the Eurasian Economic Union" in Washington, Fyodr Chernitsyn, an assistant to the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) minister for integration and macroeconomics, said sanctions and artificial restrictions with respect to EEU’s key economy, Russia is a negative factor.
Chernitsyn said also that against the backdrop of the growing protectionist tendencies in the world, the EEU remains committed to the principles of open economy and fair international competition. According to him, the EEU is set to cooperate with foreign countries and key regional economic associations.
Representatives of the diplomatic missions of Armenia, Belarus and Russia, as well as business and academic circles of the United States participated in the annual conference. -0-
