Turkish businessmen want to open direct flight from Diarbekir to Yerevan

A group of businessmen from the southeastern Turkish province of Diarbekir plan to launch a direct flight from Diarbekir to Yerevan, the Union of Entrepreneurs and Industrialists of Armenia said after a meeting with a Turkish delegation headed by Vice President and founder of the Chamber of Commerce of Diarbekir Husni Pervane in Yerevan yesterday.
YEREVAN, September 17. /ARKA/. A group of businessmen from the southeastern Turkish province of Diarbekir plan to launch a direct flight from Diarbekir to Yerevan, the Union of Entrepreneurs and Industrialists of Armenia said after a meeting with a Turkish delegation headed by Vice President and founder of the Chamber of Commerce of Diarbekir Husni Pervane in Yerevan yesterday.
Turkish businessmen said they expected their Armenian counterpart’s assistance in this matter. Arsen Ghazaryan, the chairman of the Union of Entrepreneurs and Industrialists of Armenia, who is also a co-chairman of an Armenian-Turkish economic relations commission, was said to have expressed satisfaction with this plan, recalling that in 2009 the Union initiated the opening of the Yerevan-Van (Turkey) flight, however for political reasons that project was suspended by the Turkish authorities.
Ghazaryan assured that this time the Union will make every effort to help open the air route. In 2011, the Union of Entrepreneurs and Industrialists of Armenia signed a memorandum of cooperation with Diarbekir province, followed by a string of business meetings. -0-
