YEREVAN, April 10. /ARKA/. Unibank said today it has extended the deadline for forgiving fines and penalties for bad loans.

The Armenia-based bank said in a press release that the deadline for individual clients to submit applications to the bank for amnesty of fines and penalties is June 1. The decision applies to overdue loans for a period of 271 days or more as of May 31, 2018, which are recorded in the off-balance sheet account of the bank.

The bank said clients can submit their applications to the head office or to any of its 47 branches. Unibank will forgive fines and penalties, and set a new repayment schedule for the remaining loan amount and interest.

Since the start of this process in July last year, Unibank has forgiven fines and penalties in the amount of 1.9 billion drams.

“We always meet our clients halfway and try to find reasonable solutions if they want to fulfill their obligations. We urge our clients with bad loans to visit a bank branch as soon as possible and get a new, more flexible loan repayment schedule,” said Ovsanna Arakelyan, director of a Unibank department in charge of legal services and return of overdue loans.

Unibank was founded in October 2001. In 2002, it introduced the Unistream system. The main shareholder of the bank is UNIHOLDING GG LIMITED. In 2015, the bank was reorganized into an open joint stock company. -0-
