YEREVAN, October 24. /ARKA/. The World Bank's 2020 Doing Business Index  has ranked Armenia 47th out of 190 countries.  In the previous 2019 ranking Armenia was 41st.

In comments on Armenia's standing in Doing Business Index 2020 ranking,  Sylvie Bossoutrot, the World Bank Country Manager for Armenia, said in terms of ease of doing business, which, in essence, is an assessment of the absolute level of the government regulation indicator, Armenia's score of 73.2 in Doing Business Index 2019 has been raised to  74.5 in Doing Business Index 2020.

According to her, this means that over the past year Armenia has improved business regulation, which is reflected in absolute terms in the latest Doing Business Index.

Central Bank of Armenia chairman Arthur Javadyan told a government meeting on Thursday that Central Bank experts have detected an error in the Doing Business Index 2020, which might be a technical error in the ranking related to minority shareholders. According to him, if this error is corrected, the country's position can climb from 47th to 38th place.

The Doing Business ranking is compiled by the World Bank annually to assess the investment attractiveness of 190 countries. It is based on a comprehensive analysis of reforms in each country, measuring 10 key areas to evaluate their economic results and effectiveness. The Doing Business index is an important measure for investors when deciding whether to invest in a country. -0-
