Yerevan Jur not to seek a rise in drinking water price
YEREVAN, July 1. / ARKA /. Yerevan Jur (Yerevan Water) company delivering drinking water to the capital city Yerevan and several nearby rural communities will not seek a rise in the price of water, the French-run company said today in an official letter sent to the Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC).

The company said since 2006 when the French Veolia Generale des Eaux won an international tender announced by World Bank to take up a long-term management of the Yerevan network it has managed to cut electricity consumption by 81% thanks to consistent work, which is essential in calculating water tariffs.

‘This in mind, the company proposes to leave the rate unchanged,’  the letter says.

The PSRC is to discuss the issue at a meeting on the 7th of July. Currently Yerevan households pay 170.2. drams per one cubic meter of drinking water and waste water removal.  Earlier the company said it would ask for PSRC permission to raise the tariff to 172.6 drams. ($ 1-472.53 drams. -- 0--
