Economic growth recorded in Armenia in 2008

A 6.8% economic growth was recorded in Armenia in 2008 against the previous year.
YEREVAN, January 30. /ARKA/. A 6.8% economic growth was recorded in Armenia in 2008 against the previous year.
The RA National Statistical Service reports that the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) amounted to 3,650bln drams (in market prices) in the reporting period.
GDP deflator was 110.85% in 2008 against 2007. According to the statistics, 5.7% growth of gross added value provided a 5.1 pct increase in the actual volume of GDP (11.1pct 2007). 16.8% growth of taxes, the subsidies exclusive, provided 1.7pct of the actual growth of GDP (2.7 pct in 2007).
In the period under review, 7.2% construction growth increased the GDP by 1.8pct (against 4.4pct in 2007). A 5.4% industrial (including energy sector) growth provided 2.2pct of economic growth (4.9 pct in 2007).
1.3% growth of agriculture, forestry, hunting and fishing provided 0.2pct of the economic growth.
The 16.7% increase recorded in the financial sector and real estate transactions provided 1pct increase in the GDP (1.6pct in 2007).
The share of added value was 88.9% in the GDP structure against 90% in 2007.
The share of industrial production was 13% against 15% in 2007. The share of agriculture was 15.7% and the share of construction constituted 27.1%. Trade, public catering, transport and communication provided 17.5%, the services sector on the whole – 34.3%.
Taxes, the subsidies exclusive, constituted 11.1% of the GDP.
GDP per capita was 1,128.579 drams or $3,689 (2,507EUR) in 2008.
