Armenia is leader among CIS countries by the level of economic freedom

According to the rating of “Heritage Foundation” and Wall Street Journal Armenia occupied 36th place among 183 countries by the level of economic freedom.
YEREVAN, January 13. /ARKA/. According to the rating of “Heritage Foundation” and Wall Street Journal Armenia occupied 36th place among 183 countries by the level of economic freedom.

Armenia collected 69.7 scores improving its indicators by 0.5 compared with the last year.

By the collected scores Armenia is considered “moderately free”. Slovakia, Israel, Iceland, Hungary, Latvia, France, Slovenia, Turkey, Portugal, Italy occupy lower positions than Armenia.

Closer to Armenia are Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan – 78th and 83rd places accordingly.

Azerbaijan occupied 92nd place and was included in the group "economically not free countries”. The best position in the region has Georgia – 29 the place. With 70.4 scores Georgia is recognized “economically free”.

Russia occupies 143rd place mainly due to very negative assessment of corruption, protection of ownership right and free trade.

Rating is calculated by 10 criteria, particularly economic conditions for foreign trade and business conduction, taxation, openness of the country for foreign trade, favorable investment environment, currency freedoms, level of corruption, protection of ownership right and development of labor market.

Hong-Kong headed the rating. Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, Canada, Ireland, Dania, USA, Bahrain are included in the first group of ten. --0--
