YEREVAN, May 17, /ARKA/. IMF Resident Representative in Armenia, Guillermo Tolosa, refused today to make comment on whether the arrest of International Monetary Fund chief, Dominique Strauss-Kahn, may impact the process of several programs implemented in Armenia on IMF funds.
Dominique Strauss-Kahn, the managing director of the International Monetary Fund, is accused of alleged attack on a maid at Midtown's Sofitel Hotel in New York. He was ordered on Monday to be held without bail over allegations that he had sexually assaulted a housekeeper in a lavish suite at a Manhattan hotel. Prosecutors argued that Strauss-Kahn, 62, was a flight risk and may have been involved in a similar episode
“We are not going to provide comments on this until all facts are established,’ Guillermo Tolosa said in response to an ARKA question whether Kahn’s absence may affect the programs that are being implemented and are planned to be implemented in Armenia on IMF funds.
Earlier an IMF representative said Strauss-Kahn's arrest would not affect IMF work. A representative of the European Central Bank also said the arrest will not impact the resolution of debt problems in euros zone.
According to IMF office in Armenia, Armenia’s outstanding debt to IMF totalled $758.22 million. -0-
