Annual food prices up 12.5% in Armenia in August 2022

Prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 12.5% in August 2022 in Armenia when compared to August 2021, the National Statistical Committee (NSC) reported.

YEREVAN, September 5. /ARKA/. Prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 12.5% in August 2022 in Armenia when compared to August 2021, the National Statistical Committee (NSC) reported.

It said prices of bakery and cereals rose 20.6%, the price of flour rose 16.6%, pasta price rose 32.7%. Prices of rice and lentils in August this year rose 11% and 31.1%, respectively, compared to August last year.

Meat prices rose 12% yoy in August 2022 with pork and beef rising 2.3% and 21.4%, respectively, Prices of fish and seafood increased by 6.7% compared to August 2021.

Prices of cheese rose 25.1%, while eggs in August fell by 15.2%. Prices of sunflower oil in August 2022 rose 2.4% compared to August last year.

Prices of fruits rose 16.5% yoy, while prices of vegetables increased by 5.5%. Prices of sugar, fruit puree, honey, syrups, chocolate and sugar biscuits rose 8.4%. Prices of coffee, tea and cocoa in August this year compared to August last year went up by 12.1%.

Prices for mineral and bottled drinking water in August 2022 rose 9.4% from August 2021. Vodka rose 10.1% in price, wines rose 1.9%, beer rose 9.5% and tobacco products rose 8.9%.

According to statistical data, prices of non-food goods in August 2022 compared to last August rose 8.2%.

The 12-month inflation in 2022 August was 9.1%. -0-
