Armenia counts on DFC's contribution to financing of SME, capital market and agro sector- minister
YEREVAN, 25 November. /ARKA/. Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan and Kenneth Angel, Managing Director of the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), discussed last Friday in Yerevan the opportunities for expansion of bilateral cooperation and development of the private sector in Armenia.
The minister appreciated DFC's contribution to stimulating the economic growth of developing countries, the press service of the Ministry of Economy reported.
‘This cooperation is important not only in the context of financing,but also opening opportunities for those who have ideas and determination, but lack the means. With your assistance, we can take a step forward towards building a developing and inclusive economy,’ Papoyan was quoted as saying.
Key issues discussed during the meeting included support for SME programmes and capital market development, housing for refugees, food security and the agribusiness sector, in particular the promotion of organic agriculture and the integration of renewable energy, and the development of the tourism sector.
