YEREVAN, September 18. /ARKA/. Armenia’s government said Thursday at its regular session that some areas in Akhuryan, Hrazdan, Sevjur and Kasakh rivers’ basins are now badly in want of water.

The environment minister, Aramais Grigoryan, presenting the draft decision on recognition of the mentioned areas water-starving, said that water reserves have sharply dwindled because flood here made up only 40-50% of the norm this year.

In his words, contraction of water reserves in ground sources leads to intensification of usage of underground water reserves, which are already scant because of consumption by fish-breeding farms.

The minister said that water usage permissions given to fish-breeding businesses will be reconsidered and the farms will be offered to shift to a multiple usage of the taken water. --0----
