Armenia improves its ranking on Index of Economic Freedom
YEREVAN, March 13. /ARKA/. The Index of Economic Freedom 2023 issued by Heritage Foundation ranks Armenia 50th out of 176 countries.
According to the ranking, Armenia is among "moderately free" countries. This year Armenia has scored less points than last year - 65.1 versus 65.3. In 2022 Index Armenia ranked 58th out of 177 countries.
In the European region, Armenia ranks 28th among 45 countries. Compared to neighboring countries, Armenia is second only to Georgia, which is 35th with «mostly free" economic freedom, while being ahead of Azerbaijan, which is 75th with "moderately free" economy.
Armenia's other two neighbors - Turkey is 104th with "mostly not free" economy and Irann is 169th with "repressed" economy, i.e. subject to pressure by the authorities.
The top countries by average regulatory efficiency score are Singapore, the United States, Austria, Taiwan, Denmark, and Finland.
By contrast, the worst offenders in descending order are Sierra Leone, Iran, Cuba, Sudan, Zimbabwe, Venezuela, and North Korea.-0-
