Armenia negotiates with three investors on construction of new copper smelter
YEREVAN, April 18. /ARKA/. The Armenian Ministry of Economy is currently holding talks with at least three investors for building a new copper smelter, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said in parliament on Tuesday.
"If we now produce and export copper concentrate, our next task is to produce and export copper ingots. The next task is not to export ingots, but copper wire, and after that to export solar panels, chips and components of electric cars," the Prime Minister said.
At the same time, Pashinyan said these plans will be difficult to implement with closed roads in the region.
According to official statistics, copper concentrate production in Armenia in January-February 2023 decreased by 36.1% year-on-year to nearly 53,900 tons. --0--
