Armenia’s economic activity in October is up 3 percent

Armenia’s economic activity index in 2018 October grew by 3% year-on-year, the National Statistical Committee (NSC) reported today.

YEREVAN, November 20. /ARKA/. Armenia’s economic activity index in 2018 October grew by 3% year-on-year, the National Statistical Committee (NSC) reported today. It said the economic activity in August slowed down sharply because of a decline in agriculture, growing only by 0.6% from the year before, while in July the growth was 11.1%.
The slowdown trend continued into September, when the economic activity decreased by 0.2% year-on-year. In general, the economic activity index for the first ten months of 2018 was up 6% from the year before.
According to NSC, in the first 10 months of 2018 the industrial output grew by 4.5% year-on-year to about 1. 408.7 trillion drams, the domestic trade amounted to 2.308.7 trillion drams (an increase of 9.6%), services upped by 18.5% to 1.426.7 trillion drams, construction grew by 6.5% to 288.7 billion drams, while the gross agricultural output dropped by 8.1% to 719.6 billion drams.
The inflation in October 2018, was 2.8% up from October 2017. Armenia’s foreign trade turnover in the first 10 months amounted to about $6.022 billion, an increase of 20.7% from the same period of 2017.
The government projected economic growth for this year is 4.5%. ($ 1 - AMD 485.09). -0-
