Armenia’s exports to EEU member countries surged 25.2% in 2021- Pashinyan

Armenia’s exports to Russia and other members of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) surged by 25.2% in 2021 compared to  2020, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council today in the Kazakh capital Nur-Sultan.

YEREVAN, February 25. /ARKA/. Armenia’s exports to Russia and other members of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) surged by 25.2% in 2021 compared to 2020, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council today in the Kazakh capital Nur-Sultan.

The Armenian prime minister stressed that in general, Armenia’s trade turnover with the EEU in 2021 increased by 20.6% compared to the previous year amounting to $2.7 billion.

According to Pashinyan, Armenian exports to EEU countries grow faster than its exports to third countries. The best growth rates in 2021 were provided by exports of fresh and processed agricultural products, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, textile products, footwear and some other goods.

According to Pashinyan, imports from the EEU countries to Armenia also increased in 2021 by 18.5%. "It will not be an exaggeration if I say that this progress resulted from the coherence and efforts of the national governments . We all reformatted our work in favor of more practical actions and making prompt decisions in the interests of the citizens and businesses of our countries," he said. .

Pashinyan said also that at this stage it is extremely important to maintain the momentum and continue to develop mechanisms for joint response to economic challenges.

According to Armenia’s National Statistical Committee, the country’s foreign trade turnover in 2021 with the EEU countries amounted to almost $2.74 billion, recording an annual growth of 20.6%. At the same time, exports from Armenia amounted to almost $888.8 million (an increase of 25.2%), and imports – to almost $1.85 billion (an increase of 18.5%). --0-
