Armenia's freight transportation up 11.6% in 10 months of 2022
YEREVAN, December 6. /ARKA/. About 15.5 million tons of various goods were transported in Armenia in the first ten months of 2022, an 11.6% growth compared to the same period of time in 2021,while the number of transported passenger surged by 45.8% to about 128 million, according to the National Statistics Committee.
During the period under review, about 11 million tons of cargo were transported by trucks, up 12.5% from January-October 2021; about 2.9 million tons by rail transport (12.6% rise ), about 1.7 million tons by trunk pipeline transport (4% rise ) and about 17,000 tons by air transport (23% rise).
In the first 10 months of the year, some 102 million people were transported by road transport (52.2% growth), 27 million by electric transport (22.4% growth), about 3.1. million by air (52.8% growth) and 422,000 people by rail (21.1% growth).
Revenues from postal and courier activities amounted to over 14 billion drams, up 7.7% compared to the same period of 2021.
Also, 2,705 road accidents were reported in the first ten months of the year, down by 29.3% from the same period of time in 2021.
Some 222 people were killed in these accidents, down 27.5% from the first ten months of 2021 and another 3,976 were injured. ($1 – 395.59 drams) -0-
