Armenia to label dairy products to prevent buyer confusion
YEREVAN, November 6. /ARKA/. Armenia is planning to introduce color labeling for dairy products.
This initiative to regulate the requirements for dairy product sales was discussed in the first reading on Wednesday at a meeting of the parliamentary committee on economic issues.
It is aimed at preventing actions that mislead consumers and protecting life and health.
When selling dairy products without milk fat, a separate green shelf will be provided, and for products containing a milk fat substitute, an orange shelf will be used.
Accordingly, the veterinary certificate or label for products of animal origin and locally produced raw materials must be placed in a visible location for consumers, allowing them to identify the origin of the product or raw materials.
Since there were disagreements regarding the regulations, the vote on the project was postponed for further discussion. Specialists will also be involved in the working discussion.
The issue will be put to a vote at the next committee meeting. -0-
