Armenia to offer 2,400 student bursaries in 2013-2014

Armenia’s Ministry of Education and Science will offer 2,400 state bursaries waiving tuition for students in 2013-2014 academic year, Minister Armen Ashotyan said at the government meeting on Thursday.

YEREVAN, April 4. /ARKA/. Armenia’s Ministry of Education and Science will offer 2,400 state bursaries waiving tuition for students in 2013-2014 academic year, Minister Armen Ashotyan said at the government meeting on Thursday.

Besides that, total of 19,000 students can be accepted to the  Armenian universities in the reported period, according to him.  
 “We maintained the same number of bursaries which we have had during the recent years,” he told reporters.

Ashotyan noted the authorities stay committed to the single approach in providing the students with the state aid. 
“First of all, we attach great importance to the sectors, which are priorities for our economy, second-Armenian Studies, third- culture and art,” he clarified.

The Minister also said the young individuals who demobilized from the army and want to continue education will get some benefits. They will get the state tuition waiver if admitted to any Master’s degree program. 

There  are 16 public and nearly 40 private universities in Armenia. In addition, there are several universities in the republic which were established within the interstate agreements –Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) University, American University of Armenia and French University in Armenia. —0-
