Armenian consumer prices index ups by 4.5% in 2021 January

Consumer prices in Armenia in January 2021 grew by 4.5% compared to January 2020, and by 2.2% when compared to December 2020, the National Statistical Committee (NSC) said today.

YEREVAN, February 3. /ARKA/. Consumer prices in Armenia in January 2021 grew by 4.5% compared to January 2020, and by 2.2% when compared to December 2020, the National Statistical Committee (NSC) said today.

According to the NSC, in January 2021 prices for food products and soft drinks grew by 6.4% compared to January 2020.

Prices for alcoholic beverages and tobacco products rose by 10.8%. Prices for clothing and footwear went up by 2.6% and utilities grew by 0.6%.

Household goods and appliances rose in price by 5.8%. Prices for health services grew by 5.6%, transportation prices upped by 5.7%, communications prices by 0.5%, education prices by 2% and prices of restaurants and hotels by 1.6%.

According to statistics, prices for non-food products in January 2021 increased by 5.5% from 2020 January and prices for services grew by 1.4%.

The Armenian government's GDP growth projection for 2021 is 3.2%. The inflation rate is set at 4% (± 1.5%). The Central Bank's growth forecast for 2021 is 2%. -0-
