YEREVAN, February 4. /ARKA/. Vahagn Gevorgyan, head of an Armenian wine company "365 Group” told journalists today it plans to increase sales by 43% in 2012 and exports by 25%.
According to Gevorgyan, sales last year nearly doubled to 149 million drams, while exports (to Russia and Germany) grew to 69.1 million drams from 33.7 million drams in 2010.
"In 2011 we bought about 440 tons of grapes and other fruits and produced 500 thousand bottles, up from 100 thousand a year before, » he said.
The winery was visited today by prime minister Tigran Sarkisian who was accompanied by economy minister Tigran Davtian and agriculture minister Sergo Karapetian. The premier tasted the factory’s wines.
"Wines produced by 365 Group are of very high quality and the design of bottles is very beautiful. I think the time has come for us to seriously promote Armenian wines in the world apart from our brandies," Sergo Karapetian said.
The company produces grape, pomegranate, quince, blackberry, cherry and other fruit wines and is the only producer in Armenia of «Passion de Pineau» wines. The company employs 30 people.
The Fund for Regional Economic Development of Armenia (FREDA) approved in December 2010 the company's investment program worth 200 million drams. The money was spent on refurbishing the production, importing necessary equipment and facility from Italy, Bulgaria and Georgia for storage of raw wine. ($1 = 388.2 AMD). -0-
