About 12.5 billion drams were spent to modernize safety systems at Armenian railways in 2012, general director of the South Caucasus Railway Victor Rebets told journalists Tuesday.

YEREVAN, April 9. /ARKA/. About 12.5 billion drams were spent to modernize safety systems at Armenian railways in 2012, general director of the South Caucasus Railway Victor Rebets told journalists Tuesday.

The company intends to continue its efforts to strengthen infrastructures and to ensure 100% traffic safety, Rebets said.

The general director also reported about completion of three new railway bridges. Construction of one of them lasted almost three years.

South Caucasus Railway cjsc is a 100% subsidiary of Russian Railways open joint stock company that is operating Armenian railways under a 30-year concession contract signed in 2008. The contract can be extended for another 10 years. ($1=418.51drams). -0-
