Cargo traffic in Armenia in January-July decreased by 14.2 per cent, while passenger traffic grew by 22.1 per cent
YEREVAN, 6 September. /ARKA/. The total volume of freight traffic in Armenia in January-July 2024 decreased by 14.2 percent year-on-year to about 9 million tonnes, while the total volume of passenger traffic increased by 22 percent to 125.7 million people, the National Statistical Committee reports.
More than 7.1 million tonnes of cargo were transported by road transport (down 8.5% compared to January-July 2023), 1.1 million tonnes by main pipeline transport (down 6.1%), 741,300 tonnes by rail (down 50.6%) and 20,000 tonnes by air (up 10.5%).
In the last 7 months, 102.5 million people used road transport (up 24.3%), 20 million people used electric transport (up 15.7%), about 3 million people used air transport (down 0.5%), and 316,200 people used rail transport (up 8%).
In the first seven months of 2024, there were about 2,296 road accidents in Armenia, which is 8.9 per cent less than in 2023. As a result of road accidents, 182 people were killed (4% increase) and 3,287 people were injured (8.5% decrease).
In January-July 2024, revenues from postal and courier activities in Armenia totalled AMD 11,827.8 million, down 0.5% ($1 - AMD 387.30) compared to the same period in 2023 -0-.Read the news first and discuss them in our Telegram
