Chinese and Armenian businesspersons to make a series of mutual visits in 2025 to expand co-operation
YEREVAN, 25 November. /ARKA/. Chinese and Armenian businesspeople have planned a series of mutual visits in 2025 to discuss prospects of cooperation, Mariam Manukyan, President of Armenia's Council for Support of International Business Relations said in an interview with ARKA news agency.
She said the Council has been working with China for more than 10 years, promoting, in particular, exports of Armenian alcoholic beverages to China.
According to Manukyan, a delegation of the Council visited Beijing, Changchung and Ningbo in June this year, where three different memorandums were signed with authorities of these provinces.
‘The work and negotiations with the Chinese side continue internally: we present to the Chinese side the opportunities of cooperation with Armenia and new programmes. In particular, regarding imports of raw materials the economic entities need to establish relations directly with the producers,’ Manukyan noted.
According to her, as a result of long-term co-operation the Council has established ties with the production companies of China
Responding to a question about opening a Chinese representative office in Armenia, Manukyan said the issue is under discussion. ‘There is a relevant clause in the recently signed memorandum,’ Manukyan said.
According to the Armenian National Statistical Committee, China is Armenia’s third largest foreign trade partner. Their trade turnover in January-September 2024 was more than $2 billion, registering a 34.7% growth compared to the same period in 2023.
Exports from Armenia totalled almost $907.8 million (2.8 times growth), while imports more than $776 million (7.6% growth). -0-
