YEREVAN, July 26. /ARKA/. The first batch of Belarusian tractors is already imported into Armenia, the Armenian government’s press office reported today.

Tigran Sargsyan, Armenian prime minister, arranged the matter in May, when he met with his Belarusian counterpart, Mikhail Myasnikovich, in Belarus.

The meeting between two countries’ premiers ended then in a decision to sell some 300 tractors to Armenia at the prime cost.

On July 26, Sargsyan, accompanied by Agriculture Minister Sergo Karapetyan, traveled to Armenia’s Kotayk province to see the first batch of the tractors imported by the National SME Development Center. He examined and tested the tractors carefully, and after that Varazdat Khachatryan, director of the center, and Khosrov Baghdasaryan, a resident of Shirak province, signed the first tractor purchase contact.

“The first buyer preferred the tractor tested by the premier and expressed gratitude for selling the tractor at a low price,” the press office reports.

According to the press release, the Belarusian tractors МТЗ-82.1 produced in 2013 are offered to machine operators and farmers at a price that is 30% (6.7 million drams) lower than the market price. The tractors are also leased.

The leasing is offered by SME Investments Universal Credit Organization at 20% prepayment, 9% annual interest, including risk insurance. The tractors are leased for six years and associated equipment for three years.

There were 14,683 tractors and 1,362 harvesters in Armenia in early January 2013. ($1 – AMD 410.66). ---0----
