Foreign companies which would like to invest in Armenia will enjoy the same rights as local companies, a deputy economy minister Garegin Melkonyan said today during an Armenian-Czech business forum.

YEREVAN, April 11. / ARKA /. Foreign companies which would like to invest in Armenia will enjoy the same rights as local companies, a deputy economy minister Garegin Melkonyan said today during an Armenian-Czech business forum.

He recalled that Armenia is on the 32nd position in Doing Business ranking, but the government intends to take steps in order to make the business environment even more comfortable and liberal.

Melkonyan said  to register a  business in Armenia, the entrepreneur  needs only a computer connected to Internet and half an hour of time. According to him, the government has also simplified customs and tax procedures.

On his part, deputy minister of industry and trade of the Czech Republic, Milan Hovorka said Armenian and Czech business people have a lot to do boost their economic ties. He said he was also impressed by Armenia’s 7.2 percent growth in 2012. 

"This is proof of the government's efforts to develop the country on the one hand, and expand ties with foreign investors on the other," said Hovorka. He said despite the current challenges, the Czech economy are in a fairly good state now. 

He said the sides will discuss the possibility of establishing institutional linkages between the ministries of economy of Armenia and the Czech Republic. -0-
